Have you ever felt lost or come to an intersection, unsure of what path to follow? Are you constantly questioning and second-guessing yourself, wondering if you’re making the right decisions?
Do you have dreams and desires that seem to have stalled? Are you sinking from all the distractions and interruptions, unable to hear yourself think…clearly?
Perhaps you find yourself running all over the place yet not making any progress like a hamster on a wheel.
All you want to know is that you’re on the right path. All you want is clarity. Clarity – certainty, directness, exactness, free from ambiguity, simplicity, guidance.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust In the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.”
These verses tell me that if we want clarity, then we must:
Be fully committed to God and His purpose. To be fully committed, we must know who God is as revealed in the Scriptures and through the Holy Spirit. We must recognize His sovereignty, accept His love, and trust His faithfulness. Our commitment should be unwavering and should be evidenced by our obedience to His will. Psalm 25:12 says, “Who is the man who fears the Lord? Him will he instruct in the way that He should choose.” Know that God will reveal His will to those who are committed to doing it.
Forget about our own ways of doing things and what we think we know, humbly putting it all aside to truly seek His will and His way; to truly seek what will glorify Him. Proverbs 14:12 says, “there is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.” Again, Proverbs 16:9 says, “The heart of a man plans His way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”
Walk in constant fellowship with the Father. It is important to not only come to Him when we hit the roadblock or come to the crossroads. We must take everything to Him in prayer – the issues and the non-issues; the trivial and the crucial; the mundane and the extraordinary. He is to be a part of EVERYTHING…EVERY DAY…ALL OF IT. He desires to be a part of all of it. The mistake we make is that we only come to Him when it’s convenient or when we find ourselves beating our heads against the wall. If we make it a habit to seek His guidance and remain obedient to His ways, He will truly work all the pieces together to conform to His will, and we will learn to recognize His leading.
As we walk in obedience, humility and trust, He will reveal the steps we need to take…as we need to know them.
